The debut album from GROUSE, "We Want To Be Loved", is dub-influenced downtempo electronica. Containing both instrumental and vocal tracks, the album has a distinct flow from start to finish. Combining guitars, bass, trumpet and percussion with beats and sublte synthesized sounds, comparisons have been made to Kruder & Dorfmeister, Portishead, Thievery Corporation and Zero 7.
With the drive of horns and bass, "Tuesday Wednesday" opens the album the album as a sort of intro into the very laid back beats of "Prosperous". By way of the vocal and acoustic guitar driven "Lies on Me" and the ambient "Dedlya", the music later delves into darker territory with "Freak Of Nurture" and "Suicide Kills Me".
The title track is an 8 minute dub piece climaxing with organs, improvised tumpet and a pulsing bass line. "As If To Prove A Point" ends the album on a more melodic but slightly trippy feel.
Grouse is the project of Irish musician/ producer Ronan Carroll.
