"Interpolate is a dense and atmospheric delight and is probably the best album you will hear this year from an artist you don’t know."
- Louder Than War

Grouse, returns to the album format for the 4th time with ‘Interpolate’. It follows on from 2016’s well received ‘Oslo’ album (album of the week Nialler9, Irish Times, Dan Hegarty, 2FM), and follow up EP, ‘Also’ (2019).

Whereas previous Grouse releases featured mostly instrumental music, ‘Interpolate’ is a vocal-driven affair, with guest vocals and collaborations with Irish artists, Deaf Joe, Jessie Roche and Tracy Friel amongst others.

September 3rd saw the release of 'Days, the lead single from the album. It features the sublime vocals of Waterford born artist, Deaf Joe. It’s a moody affair with a slow build to a harmonised climax.

The second single (Oct. 22nd) was ‘Unend’, with newcomer, Jessie Roche, on vocals. This is perhaps the most accessible track on the album with a low-key electronic keyboard intro. giving way to Jessie’s laid back vocals, live drums and a brass backed chorus.

The rest of the album veers between the instrumental (the jazz-influenced “Rank Outsider” and euphoric second track, “My Eye”) to vocal tracks in the form of “So Much To Tell” and “Collusion”. Perhaps the most unusual track is “Verbatim”, again featuring the vocals of Deaf Joe. Odd time signatures, progressive changes and a soaring vocal outro are the take-aways here. It’ll leave you ready for the more low-key final track, ‘Collusion’, featuring Grounds For Invasion singer, Tracy Friel.
